# Media

> File types and size limits for template headers, catalogs, knowledge, and chat attachments.

The assistant calls `get_media_guidelines` before it uploads a file. It does not generate a file. A header image for a new template comes only from `generate_template`. See [Templates](https://docs.greentick.ai/mcp/templates.md).

## What you can upload

`upload_media` hosts a file you already have. `purpose` is one of:

| Purpose | Allowed files |
| - | - |
| `template_header` | JPEG or PNG up to 5 MB, MP4 up to 16 MB, or PDF up to 100 MB. The sample must match the header type. Utility templates must not contain promotional copy. |
| `catalog` | JPEG or PNG up to 8 MB, or MP4 up to 100 MB. The URL can be up to 2048 characters. |
| `knowledge` | PDF, plain text, Markdown, or JSON up to 15 MB. |

Pass a public `https` URL or one complete `base64` value up to 5 MB, plus `mimeType` and `filename` when you have them. HTML, SVG, scripts, and executables are rejected.

A partial or cut-off file is rejected. That failure blocks `create_template` and `create_catalog_product` until a complete file is uploaded. The rejected upload is not a media id.

## Chat attachments

`send_conversation_media` sends an image, video, or PDF inside an open customer service window. Pass `mediaUrl` from `upload_media`, or a complete `mediaBase64` value. The assistant does not generate that file. Details are on [Inbox](https://docs.greentick.ai/mcp/inbox.md).
