# Suggest a WhatsApp reply without sending it

> Ask an assistant for a suggested WhatsApp reply in Live Chat. suggest_reply does not send the message.

`suggest_reply` returns a suggested reply for a conversation. It does not send the reply. The message goes out only if you ask for a separate send.

## Ask this

```text theme={null}
Read the latest messages from +14155550123 and suggest a reply I can send. Do not send it. Show me the suggestion only.
```

If you want it sent after you read it:

```text theme={null}
Send that suggestion as session text, but only if the 24-hour window is still open. Otherwise stop.
```

## What the assistant calls

**1. Read the thread**

`list_conversations` and `list_conversation_messages` load the conversation. The assistant needs the conversation `id` before it can suggest a reply.

**2. Suggest**

`suggest_reply` returns the text. The assistant shows it to you and waits.

**3. Send only if you ask**

A later `send_message` with `type: text` is a different request. It still has to fall inside the 24-hour window.
