# Create a developer app

> Register on Meta for Developers and create a Business app linked to your portfolio.

A Meta developer account and a Business app link your portfolio to the WhatsApp Business Platform. No coding is needed.

## Create the account and app

**1. Open Meta for Developers**

Go to [developers.facebook.com](https://developers.facebook.com/) and click **Get Started** to register.

**2. Verify by SMS**

Enter your phone number and the SMS code Meta sends. Confirm your contact email to finish registration.

**3. Choose a role**

Pick your role on the form. If you are unsure, choose **Other**. The role does not limit WhatsApp features.

**4. Create the app**

On the developer dashboard, click **Create App**. Use a name close to your registered business name.

**5. Pick the use case and type**

Under **What do you want your app to do?**, select **Other**. On the next screen, choose **Business** as the app type and click **Next**.

**6. Link the portfolio**

In **Business portfolio**, select the portfolio you created. Click **Create app**.
