Contacts are the people you message from the connected phone number. A contact is unique by phone number on that number’s WhatsApp Business account. Open Contacts in the dashboard.

Add contacts

  • Add a contact in the dashboard and include the country code in the phone number.
  • Click Import to upload a file, map columns, and review the import report.
  • Click Export to download the current list.
Imports skip or report rows that do not have a usable phone number. If a contact with the same number already exists, GreenTick keeps a single contact for that number.

Use contacts

  • Broadcasts can select saved contacts, filter them, import a file, or add numbers for that send. Contacts who opted out of broadcasts are not included.
  • Live Chat opens the thread for a contact when they message you, or when you send them a template.
  • Labels and custom attributes segment the list. See Labels and attributes.

Phone numbers

Store numbers with the country code and no spaces or symbols if you are preparing a file, for example 919876543210. GreenTick normalizes numbers to digits, including the country code, before it saves them.
The same contact rules apply to the API. POST /v1/contacts creates contacts, and a duplicate phone number returns a conflict instead of a second record.
